Golf between dexterity and power

Golf Equipment

“Keep your sense of humor. There’s enought stress in the rest of your life not to let bad shots ruin a game your supposed to enjoy.”

— Amy ALCOTT

Hello everyone ! In this post, I am going to talk about the different types of equipment in golf. I really hope you will be unbeatable after reading this. 🙂

The club is used to hit the golf ball. Each club is composed of a “shaft“, a “grip” where the golfer will put his hands and a “head” which will be in contact with the ball.

Initially, they are divided into three categories:

Wood: They are so called because at the beginning, they had a head made of wood. However, nowday their heads are made of titanium or composite materials. They are used to make long distances on the fairway.
Irons: Their heads are made of steel and have varying lofts.
Putter: It is used to propel the ball over short distances mainly on the green.

IRON

HYBRID

PUTTER

Distances with club

In the same category of club (wood, iron), the distances covered by the ball are scaled from 10 metres to 10 metres.

These distances are commun for the average players but for the professional it is highter. As an exemple, a professional golfer can shot with his driver until 300 meters.

  1. It looks like club form has been very deeply studying, there is funny shape (I think of the “putter” in particular xD).
    Thank you !

    1. Yes putters exist with different shapes from the simplest to the most complex one but for them it does not really matter on the green because of the low speed use!! In fact Driver and iron are the most studied because there is a big part of dynamical mechanical !

  2. Very interesting! With a range of 300 meters, is a driver heavy?

    1. Thank you so much Alexis! Nop a driver isn’t so heavy. Tour players’ driver heads weigh between 205 and 215 grams (which increase the ball speed). Therefore, it is the lightest golf club.

  3. Which clubs do you recommend to have in your bag to start golf?

    1. For beginners, I recommend to have a putter, 3 irons club (6, 7 and 9 for example), one sand-wedge and one driver (or a wood). And also golf balls of course 😉

  4. Hi Bastien!
I don’t know if I’ve become unbeatable in golf equipment, honestly I think not!
When you’re a pro like you, is it always easy to choose the right club? Or are there situations where you might have doubts about your choice?

    1. Hi Elise!
I hope that now you are unbeatable in golf equipment haha.
Actually, it is pretty easy to choose the right club for the perfect moment. All depends on your capacities and the situation (lenght, sand etc).
